Vehicle Description
1973 Triumph TR6 with the 2.5L inline 6 producing 104 bhp
The Triumph TR6 (1968–76) is a sports car built by British Triumph Motor Company between 1968 and 1976. It was the best-seller of the TR range when production ended, a record subsequently surpassed by the TR7.
The bodywork was generally similar to the TR4/TR5, but the front and back ends were squared off, reportedly as a result of a consultancy contract involving Karmann. James May from Top Gear claims that the Triumph TR6 is the manliest car there has ever been.
All TR6s were powered by Triumph's 2.5-litre straight-6, with certain versions producing approximately 150 bhp.
The TR6 features a four-speed manual transmission. Construction is a traditional ladder chassis with the body on top. Other features include semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension and rack and pinion steering. The TR6 is still pretty fast as it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 8.2 seconds and has a topspeed of 190 km/h. Making this the ideal road going companion.
The TR6 which we are presenting here today was bought by her previous owner to be taken on many fun road trips and adventures. And that is what he did… He took her on many trips to the south of France, Spain, etc. He really enjoyed putting the miles on her and it is a true testimony to her comfort and quality. As she is a carburetor car, she came from the United States with the last title being from Texas. She is believed to have been in Europe for the past 20 years.
She is an older restoration, but she is still in very good shape. During her restoration she was painted in this very classy black colour. Her last owner had the original TR6 seats refinished in a lovely Sonnenland Green leather. The contrast between the black car and the dark green interior make her a true beauty. She does not have any rust and her chassis is in very good condition.
Also during her restoration, her engine was completely revised and fitted with SU carbs instead of the standard Strombergs. The SU carbs give an overall better engine performance with better reliability. And as she was planned to be taken on many road trips, an oil cooler was fitted for better cooling and more reliable performance. Her gearbox is also a smooth shifting example.
This TR6 is waiting for its next big adventure and we have the confidence that she will conquer every mountain pass without a problem. So what are you waiting for? Get in touch now to schedule an appointment and hear her 6 cylinder engine sing.
