Vehicle Description
For Sale: 1962 Peugeot 403 Familiale – Rare 7-Seater Classic with New Mechanical Parts
A true time capsule on wheels: this 1962 Peugeot 403 Familiale is a rare and elegant classic in exceptionally neat condition. Over the past months, a lot of care and investment has gone into making it a reliable, smoothly running vintage car once again.
Under the bonnet, many key components have been renewed:
New clutch and pressure plate
New water pump, radiator, fuel pump, and alternator
Mechanically, this Peugeot is in top shape and ready for long, carefree drives.
The Familiale is the extended 7-seater version of the legendary Peugeot 403, designed by none other than Pininfarina — the same Italian designer famous for shaping Ferraris of the era. This version features two rear benches (for seven passengers total) and an original roof rack (imperial), perfect for family trips, picnics, or vintage rallies.
Engine & Performance:
Engine: 1.468 cc 4-cylinder petrol
Power: approx. 65 hp (48 kW) at 5,000 rpm
Torque: about 106 Nm
Top speed: around 120 km/h
Despite its modest figures, the 403 offers a surprisingly smooth and relaxed drive, with the long gearing and characteristic French comfort Peugeot was known for.
Fun facts:
The Peugeot 403 was the first Peugeot with a fully steel body and a thermostat-controlled cooling system.
Designed by Pininfarina — the same man behind many Ferrari classics.
Details:
Year: 1962
Model: 403 Familiale (7-seater)
Condition: Excellent, technically refreshed
Highlights: Two rear benches, roof rack, smooth-running and reliable
A characterful, elegant French classic — meticulously maintained and upgraded for everyday usability. A perfect mix of heritage, design, and drivability.
