Vehicle Description
- The BMW 8 Series (internal designation E31) was unveiled to the public at the BMW stand at the 1989 IAA in Frankfurt: with its choice of 8 or 12 cylinders, the 2+2-seater coupé was positioned in a significantly higher market segment than the old 6 Series coupé range, which had been discontinued in the same year. With its elegant appearance and highly refined sportiness, the 8 Series immediately won many fans.
- The models available were the 840i, 840Ci, 850i, 850Ci, and the top-of-the-range 850CSi, which boasted an impressive 380 hp. By the end of production in 1999, a total of over 30,000 units of all models had been produced.
