Vehicle Description
Master Pininfarina once again created a masterpiece with this sports car. The super elegant bodywork, the perfect road holding and the powerful engine made this car a very desirable possession. As a successor to the Giuletta, an air scoop was added to the bonnet to house the larger twin cam engine, making the car even more attractive than its predecessor. In the basic version it was already a powerful car with 92 hp, but the Veloce variant has a different approach. The engine was thoroughly overhauled by Alfa engineers. Two double carburettors were installed and the car produces no less than 112 hp (!) with a top speed of 180 km/h. Ultimately, only 1091 Veloces were built, making it an extremely rare appearance, much rarer than its Giuletta sister.
The car we present here was built in 1964 and sold new in Newark, USA with a white exterior and black interior. Sometime during its time in the US the car was painted red, and most of its life was spent under the Californian sun. From the extensive documentation that accompanies the car, we were able to conclude that it came into the hands of a German lady who brought it with her to her home country upon her return to Germany in 1995, and took good care of it for many years, as evidenced by the many invoices and inspection certificates. . Ultimately, the car was offered by Bonhams during the Monaco sale and bought there by a Dutchman, the year is now 2018. The Dutch owner sold the car in 2019 so that it ended up back in his home country Italy, where it has been excellently cared for by its owner to this day. The car comes with an ASI certificate and a Certificate of Origin issued by Alfa Romeo Classiche, as well as extensive documentation.
The car is in excellent condition, both optically and mechanically. The paintwork is excellent without defects or any sign of rust, the chrome parts are beautiful, the hood is very sleek and like new. The underside of the car shows no sign of rust or corrosion, there are no leaks and brakes, suspension, tires and springs are top notch. The engine compartment is very clean and the engine runs without any errors or comments. The interior is very nice, all instruments are present. In short, this is the classic car you want for touring or even to compete at a show.
